Lebanon Stormwater

Welcome to Lebanon Stormwater

The federal Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, and Endangered Species Act require the city to manage stormwater runoff to protect water quality in rivers and streams, protect watershed health, and protect groundwater as a drinking water resource.

Stormwater runoff is generated when precipitation from rain and snowmelt events flows over land or impervious surfaces and does not percolate into the ground. As the runoff flows over the land or impervious surfaces (paved streets, parking lots, and building rooftops), it accumulates debris, chemicals, sediment or other pollutants that could adversely affect water quality if the runoff is discharged untreated. The primary method to control stormwater discharges is the use of best management practices (BMPs).

The city works with citizens, businesses, and property owners to increase public awareness of stormwater issues and promote private stormwater management efforts.

Please report any of the following issues to the Storm Water Service Center at 765-482-8870.

  • clogged or slow moving storm drains
  • anything being dumped into a storm drain
  • anyone tampering with a storm drain
  • any excess lawn debris on or near a storm drain or in a swale
  • anyone filling in a swale to level it off
  • inadequate drainage of a swale
  • any sink holes
