The mission of the Cleanest City committee is not only to obtain more receptacles for trash and cigarette butts, but also to change attitudes with facts, involving people, planning and positive reinforcement.
Why do we need a Cleanest City Initiative?
– More than 51 BILLION pieces of litter land on U.S. roads every year.
– Litter decreases property values by 7%.
– Trash carried into storm drains contaminates our water.
– Litter clean up costs $11.5 BILLION a year
Litter on the roads:
– Cigarette butts (38%)
– Paper (22%)
– Plastic (19%)
