Rails to Trails Opening Day
April 7, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
FreeOn Saturday, April 7, 2018, people across the nation will kick off the spring trail season by hitting their favorite trails for a walk, run, ride or special event.
There are several ways here in Boone County that you can take part:
- Whitestown – Join the Whitestown Parks and Recreation team for some fun on the Big 4 Trail at 9 a.m. They will be gathering in the lot along the trail near the American Legion and will have swag bags for the first 50 kids. At 9 a.m. representatives from the Whitestown Bicycle and Pedestrian Board will do a brief informal presentation about the Bike & Ped Master Plan and its timeline. After that, families are encouraged to utilize the trails for a walk, run, or bike ride! More info here.
- Lebanon/Thorntown – Join the Boone EDC and e-Boom Electric Bikes for an open ride along the Big 4 Trail from the Sam Ralston Trail Head near Menard’s in Lebanon to downtown Thorntown. The maintainance tent opens at 10 a.m. and the ride begins at 11 a.m. We will stop in Thorntown for a quick lunch at Danny J’s and return back to Lebanon. This ride will be 18 miles round trip, cruising at your own pace! Feel free to stick with the pack or drop off at any time. Pizza by the slice will be available from Danny J’s, provided by the Boone EDC and eBoom Electric Bikes. The event is free, but registration is encouraged. Register here.
Whether you hit the trail for a peaceful stroll, fast-paced run, picnic, volunteer project, philanthropic ride or special Opening Day event—you’re going to have a great time celebrating the magnificent trails that connect our community and our country.
