The Lebanon City Council discussed a pre-allocation agreement that reserves future water supply and wastewater treatment capacity for the planned Parkview hospital and medical campus.
Parkview Health Systems announced in August that construction is expected to begin this year on its $150 million hospital on Lebanon’s south side.
The medical campus will feature a 108,000-square-foot 24-hour emergency department and inpatient care for medical, surgical and specialty needs. It will also hold a 30,000-square-foot medical office building and house primary and specialty care, outpatient diagnostics and a shared employer clinic.
The project is expected to create more than 200 healthcare jobs and expand access to local medical services for Boone County residents.
Like other major developments in the city, Parkview must secure a reliable water supply before moving forward. To do so, Parkview has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Lebanon Utilities to reserve water and wastewater capacity in advance.
This agreement comes after a string of similar discussions about water supply for developments including Eli Lilly and Company, NewCold and Meta. Lebanon Utilities Attorney Jeff Jacob said the allocation for Parkview is similar but more project specific.
