{Courtesy: The Lebanon Reporter} Local kids balanced atop melting snow banks Saturday evening, craning to catch a glimpse of Santa and Mrs. Claus arriving on atop a float the Boone County Courthouse square.
The Heart of Lebanon ensured the square glowed warmly as residents bundled in coats and scarves gathered for the annual Christmas on the Square celebration.
Despite the sharp December cold, the steady crowd filled the streets around the courthouse for the evening of holiday tradition.
Countless people huddled behind the candy cane ropes to welcome Santa and about half a dozen grinches who rolled past the crowd. A child riding on the Polar Express float decided the parade needed a little extra spirit and belted out Christmas songs from memory, delighting the crowd with his impromptu performance.
Spectators leaned in for a closer look as the procession finished its journey from Memorial Park to the square. Santa and Mrs. Clause stopped right in front of the unlit tree downtown and they got out to join their helpers.
