{Courtesy: The Lebanon Reporter} Hope Community Church can help about 100 more families for Christmas this year after a donation of $32,000 and 2,000 new toys.
The church recognized a need in the community and founded its Christmas Shop in 2019. Since then the church annually collects donations and invites parents who apply in advance to shop for their children on a selected day.
Fluor, a general contractor, is building the Eli Lilly and Co. pharmaceutical complex on Lebanon’s north side with the help of a multitude of project contractors. Lilly sits near Hope Community Church.
Employees of Lilly and Fluor teamed up with the church three years ago after finding themselves working in the same neighborhood. And donations have swelled along with the company’s workforces.
The Lilly and Fluor teams donated about 1,000 toys and $15,000 last year, four times as much as in 2023.
This year, they donated more than $32,000 and 2,000 toys through an annual site-wide toy drive. And the church will serve an estimated 600 families this year, compared to 500 last year, and fewer in 2023.
“We’re incredibly thankful and blessed for these donations that allow us to support an additional 100 families this holiday season,” church volunteer Kim Brown said.
Children as old as 18 receive three gifts and a stocking through the church program. Parents apply in advance and receive an appointment time. Learn more online at www.hopeoflebanon.com.
