Stambaughs Bond on Display During Tigers’ Run

{Content Courtesy: The Lebanon Reporter} Jim Stambaugh has been a fixture of Lebanon athletics for more than two decades. A 1992 Lebanon graduate, he has coached on the football staff for the past 25 years, and also was an assistant wrestling coach for 17 years.

He has seen the ups and downs of the Tigers’ program over the years, and when they were able to secure the program’s first sectional title since 1997, all the emotions starting coming out.

“When we won it, there were just a lot of emotions running through my head of all those guys who were close a lot of times, and how they deserved to be here too,” Stambaugh said. “I really started to run through some of the prior teams and the guys that didn’t have a chance to get to be a part of it. Guys like Max Williams and Drew Terrill, Dillon Dittemore and Eli Bridges, countless others. I coached with Kent Wright, Jeff Smock, a lot of great coaches who love Lebanon who have tried to get this over the years, and just didn’t have the opportunity to win the sectional.”

To make it even more special, he got to share the championship with his son Evan, a 2017 Lebanon graduate, who is in his first-year as Tigers’ offensive coordinator.

“It’s something every dad dreams of,” Jim said. “He has been a part of this program since he was three years old. It’s super cool being able to enjoy this with him.”

Jim said it has been great to watch Evan have success in coaching.

He always had an inkling Evan would be a coach.
