As we close out the year 2024, we wanted to recap how the Elevate Lebanon effort continues to benefit the community. This collaboration between the City of Lebanon and Habitat for Humanity of Boone County has big plans for 2025, with five projects already queued up!

“Peace, love, and joy to all who enter here,” said City of Lebanon Planning Director Ben Bontrager as he read a piece of restored artwork to Lebanon home owner Opal Harris.
“Okay. Thank you,” responded Harris. Overcome with emotion. “It was a miracle. It was. For the little bit that I thought I was going to get…I got everything. Everything was replaced.”
“That’s really what we want this program to be, is elevating the lives of people in our community. So, being able to see the reaction of the people we are helping, that really brings it home for us, that we are helping their lives, and that’s what we want to do with this program,” added Bontrager.
“My goodness, I went from the bottom clear to the top,” said Harris. “It’s just fantastic!”
“Super proud of our team for being able to do this,” said Habitat for Humanity of Boone County Executive Director Liz Qua. “I’m so beyond excited about our partnership with the City of Lebanon. The amount of change that we can make here in the community is amazing.”
“It would’ve never gotten done, truthfully,” added Harris. “I would’ve just lived this way. There’s no way I could’ve afforded it. I couldn’t afford the things that needed to be done, with my income. Then, all of a sudden, they’re all done and it cost me very, very little. I mean, thirty dollars for all of that.”
“Hopefully the word of mouth gets out and we’re lined up and we’re ready to elevate Lebanon and provide more volunteer opportunities for people,” said Habitat for Humanity of Boone County Board Member – Chair of the Repair Team Steve Nobis. “Looking forward to it.”
