LEBANON – Eli Lilly and Co. announced this morning that it will boost its investment in Lebanon to more than $13 billion.
The move increases Lilly’s capital commitment in the United States to more than $23 billion since 2020.
Lilly is a global pharmaceutical company headquartered in Indianapolis. The company announced today that it will invest an additional $4.5 billion to create the Lilly Medicine Foundry, a new center for advanced manufacturing and drug development. The Lilly Medicine Foundry will let Lilly research new ways of producing medicines while scaling up manufacturing of medicines for clinical trials.
The first-ever facility of its kind will combine research and manufacturing in a single location in Indiana’s LEAP Research and Innovation District on Lebanon’s north side.
Lilly’s additional investment will result in 400 more jobs for highly skilled workers, including engineers, scientists and operations personnel, Lilly announced.
Lebanon Mayor Matthew Gentry will meet with Gov. Eric Holcomb, Sen. Todd Young, and others at Lilly’s downtown Indianapolis headquarters this morning for the official announcement made by Lilly’s CEO Dave Ricks and Dan Skovronsky, president of Lilly immunology.
Construction of the Lilly Medicine Foundry is scheduled to begin in 2025 and it should open in late 2027.
