The design for the Camp Street CSX mural has been approved! This design, created by local artist Anita Gordon(Paintings by Anita), is a take on van Gogh’s “The Starry Night.”
The overpass mural will be located near Harney Elementary at Camp Street and Hoy Avenue, and will feature the school, the War Memorial, historic downtown buildings, and the Sky-Vue Drive-In Theatre!
Some hide-and-seek tiger paws will no doubt be an added feature for passersby.
Work on the mural is set to begin in mid-March, and will include “Community Creation Days” as well. Community Creation Days are specific times where the public is encouraged to visit the mural location and take part in the painting process, with the help of the muralist. Refreshments and City of Lebanon giveaways are also part of Community Creation Days. Further details will be released in a timely manner.
The City of Lebanon received permission from CSX to add artwork to five train overpasses throughout town. All overpasses were inspected before approval was given to the city to add artwork.
