In early June, the City of Lebanon hosted a Creative Community Celebration. Creatives from all around the community set up spaces on the courthouse plaza to show off their respective creative abilities. Artists, actors, and artisans of all ages and abilities took part. The public was invited to meet the Lebanon creatives, and paint the city’s outdoor piano, which will be setup outside the heART Studio, that will open soon along East Main Street.
“We kind of stumbled upon it,” said Jenny Schenkel.” Anytime we’ve seen the road closures, it’s always something that’s exciting. The weather couldn’t be more perfect and we’ve seen a lot of familiar faces. We painted and played games so, it was a great night. Very unexpected.”
“It’s wonderful,” added Artist and Area Creative Nicole Paraskevas. “It’s such a variety of talent, from actors to musicians, artists, writers, everyone is coming out. It’s a good network for everyone to have to just meet other people who are creative, and maybe work on projects together hopefully.”
“A lot of creatives work in isolation, added Paraskevas. “So it’s so important to a creative community and people you can bounce ideas off of, or show what you’re working on to get feedback. It really does create a great place for people to meet other like-minded individuals to learn more about…everything, or things that aren’t your specialty too.”
“It’s going to be neat to grow up, and watch my daughter grow up and be a part of the town more,” said Jenny Schenkel.
“I just like how it’s so small that you can walk to everything here in Lebanon,” said Gracen Schenkel.
“We couldn’t be happier,” added Jenny Schenkel. “We absolutely love it here. I am excited that this is our forever town.”
