Due to an increase in Boone County’s COVID-19 cases, and out of an abundance of caution, Lebanon Mayor Matt Gentry has ordered the closing of City buildings to the general public without an appointment until further notice; including the Mayor’s, Clerk-Treasurer’s, and Planning office in the Municipal building, the Parks office in Memorial Park, and the Street Department building on Lafayette Avenue, the Lebanon Police Station, and Fire Stations 11 and 12.
“This decision was not an easy one, but I believe it’s necessary to ensure the safety of Lebanon residents and City staff,” said Mayor Gentry. “At this time, City employees will continue to work in their respective offices to meet the needs of the public. City staff will continue to be available via phone and email while our City offices are closed to visitors.”
According to the State Health Department website, Boone County has seen a significant increase in cases, an average of 299 cases per 100,000 residents. Statewide COVID cases have been rising as well during the month of November.
“The numbers are disappointing,” said Mayor Gentry. “We all have to work together as a community to put an end to this pandemic. I continue to recommend that all residents wear a mask, maintain social distancing, and wash their hands. Let’s all do our part to get these numbers down.”
At this time, the Lebanon Utility office within the Municipal Building will remain open to the public. Regularly held city meetings will also be open to the public.
