At the June 8th Lebanon City Council meeting, Lebanon Community School Corporation Superintendent Dr. Jon Milleman and Lebanon School Police Chief Steve Smith presented a status update on the impact of LCSC’s School Resource Officer program. Previously, the school sought, and was granted funding from the City Council to help make the SRO initiative in all LCSC schools a reality.

Accompanying the Power Point presentation and discussion, was a video highlighting the impact School Resource Officers are having on the safety of the school, as well as the well-being of students and school staff.

 

More on the SRO Program:

  • The Lebanon Schools Police Department is made up of School Resource Officers dedicated to working with LCSC to ensure a safer learning environment, provide valuable resources to school staff, teachers, and youth to prevent and solve problems within the school and community, and foster positive relationships between youth and police officers.

    Services provided by LSPD:

    • Patrol the campuses of Lebanon Community Schools
    • Conduct drug searches (random and scheduled)
    • Provide security at school functions
    • Conduct educational programs and training
    • Bullying prevention and intervention
