“As 2017 comes to a close, I’d like to look ahead to what promises to be a prosperous 2018 for our city. Most of what you’ll see in the new year falls into the ‘quality of life’ category. Quality of life can be interpreted several ways, but for me it consists of creating a community-wide environment that is comforting to current residents, and attractive to potential new ones.
Downtown Improvements
It hasn’t been publicized extensively, but the City of Lebanon team has been very hard at work to tee up our downtown renovation project. Department heads, members of Lebanon Utilities, and representatives from Remenschneider Associates have been taking a detailed yet aggressive approach to the process. The goal is to have the project ready to bid early in 2018, with construction beginning in the Spring.
The project not only pertains to the downtown square, but also to the expansion of The Big 4 Trail. The trail plan has been inspected meticulously, especially where it enters the downtown area along West Main Street.
New Resident Attraction
A recently completed and distributed housing study revealed that Lebanon is in need of new homes. Members of the city’s planning and engineering departments have been putting their experience and expertise to good use to aid in this effort. Attractive and available pieces of property are being located, and desirable home builders are being invited into town for a closer look. I am happy to say that conversations have gone extremely well, with several announcements expected in the new year.
Lebanon Rebrand
Lastly, I would like to spend a moment on the Lebanon Rebrand. I hope that you will make time to attend the rebranding reception set for December 11th on the 2nd floor of the Municipal Building. It is my hope that our city’s new logo, and marketing campaign will energize our community, and spark a sense of pride in everyone who calls this place home.
Many thanks for allowing me to serve as your Mayor, and I look forward to the many great things headed our way in 2018.
As always, if you have any thoughts or opinions you’d like to share, please email me([email protected]). Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your family!”
