City Unveils Plans for 9/11 Memorial
In 2009 the Lebanon Fire Department began a process to acquire a piece of the World Trade Center Towers. The goal was to raise funds and create a monument to remember the lives lost on that day. LFD received a 500 pound “I “Beam from Tower Two. Over the last seven years LFD has done fundraisers and received donations from the public, businesses, and service organizations.
To date there is $11,291.00 in the 9/11 Memorial Non-Reverting Fund. Over the last year the 9/11 Memorial Committee and Chief Chuck Batts have met several times to discuss the location and bids for the monument. Station 11 located at 975 Lasley Dr. was chosen as the location. A&K Monument located in Lebanon was chosen as the contractor.

Students Visit the Municipal Building
Ask a Harney Elementary second grader how new businesses come to the city and they might now know. Students learned the answer to that questions and many others during their tour of the Lebanon Municipal Building.
Second grade teachers brought the students over to meet Lebanon Mayor Matt Gentry, City Engineer Kevin Krulik, First Deputy Clerk Cindy Thrine, along with others. Students were taught about the various jobs throughout city service.
